As you may have seen on the news, there is a national shortage of blood bottles. This is unfortunately affecting every healthcare service provider.
We have therefore been told by the NHS to postpone all non-urgent blood tests and only continue with urgent blood tests.
To manage this safely at Ashlea Medical Practice:
- Our doctors will review all booked blood tests to determine those that can safely be delayed
- All blood test requests we receive will be screened by a doctor to determine if urgent
- We will continue to update you as we receive more information from NHS England
Given the nature of the shortage, we cannot give an exact date for when the blood test will be rescheduled, but please be assured that if your condition or symptoms require it, then you will get a test. We will re-book non urgent tests when supplies become more easily available.
We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
